What We Do

PediaKare De’ Louisiana provides non-residential nursing care to children who are prescribed this care by a physician. We serve medically eligible children starting from 1 week of age depending on their needs and the suitability of our services. PediaKare gives parents the peace of mind of knowing that their children are well cared for in a safe environment by healthcare professionals. 

An individualized plan of care is developed for each child, in consultation with the physician and other professionals, to guide PediaKare staff. Skilled nursing services offered at PediaKare include but are not limited to:

• Gtube feeding and care

• Apnea monitoring

• VP shunt monitoring

• Ventilator and trach management (suctioning, oxygen therapy, and nebulizer treatment)

• Ostomy management

• Medication administration

• Seizure intervention and management

• Developmentally appropriate activities

• Central line and port care

• Skilled assessment and emergency protocol

• Bladder cauterization and irrigation

• Skilled care 3:1 ratio

Physical therapists provide treatments to improve gross motor function through:

•Balance and coordination activities

•Supportive positioning

•Adaptive equipment assessment (including walkers and wheelchairs)

•Facilitation of gross and fine motor skills

PediaKare’s occupational therapists are trained in sensory integrative techniques to help children:

•Facilitate communication, social, and cognitive skills

•Improve self-awareness and self-regulation

•Develop and refine both fine and gross motor skills

•Improve sensory processing and discrimination

•Work toward independence in self-help skills

Speech therapists at PediaKare provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for a variety of communication deficiencies. Our speech therapists specialize in;

•Articulation

•Feeding

•Receptive and expressive language skills

•Social skills

•Assistive technology to facilitate communication
